The beginning of a school year is a time of new beginnings. Even if your child is not new to the school, he or she may have a new teacher, new classroom and new classmates. There may be some anxiety but this will gradually fade away - for some children, by the end of the day and for some, by the end of the week. For other children, it may take longer for them to adjust to their new environment. Don't worry, parents, this is normal for most people. If your children express anxiety, remind them that they are not alone and that other students in their classes feel the same way. Please feel free to seek help by using all the resources that we have available at Bel-Aire Elementary school. Teachers and coaches can and will help to answer your academic questions while the Student Services team; which includes the Counselor, the Social worker,
the school psychologist, and the Administrators, are ready and willing to assist with your emotional, physical, and logistic needs. Remember to schedule doctors' appointments and family vacations when school is not in session. Children are forced to play catch-up whenever they're absent or tardy to school. Trying to catch up with the class can be frustrating and may lead to bad grades and children losing interest in school. REMEMBER, THEY CANNOT BE TAUGHT IF THEY ARE NOT PRESENT IN THE CLASSROOM. Please ask for help when you need it.
We hope that you will have a successful school year.

Do The Right Thing
Please encourage your children to practice good behaviors and show good citizenship at school and at home. The city of Miami Police in collaboration with The Miami-Dade Schools Police Departments, through the Do The Right Thing program, encourage students to always do the right thing by rewarding them for good behaviors which include honesty, integrity, kindness, and overall good citizenship. The awards include a letter signed by the two Chiefs of Police, a certificate also signed by the two chiefs of Police, a "My Child Did the Right Thing" sticker for your car, coupons for free pizza or other items, and a "Do The Right Thing" T-shirt. Students enjoy being singled out to receive these awards. |
